Bookkeeping support built around real business life

What are you tired of carrying?

Tax deadlines
Month-end pressure
Books falling behind
Numbers you don’t trust
Missing receipts
Unreconciled accounts
No clear answers
Being judged
Chasing for replies
Doing it all yourself

You do not have to carry all of this alone.

This is exactly the work I am here to take off your plate.

Anna — your dedicated bookkeeper, who genuinely loves messy books.

I genuinely love messy books.

I’m not afraid of cleanup. I love it.

Bring me the books that are behind, the balances you do not trust, the missing receipts, and the accounts that do not reconcile.

I enjoy untangling the mess, investigating confusing numbers, finding what is missing, and bringing everything back into order.

You do not need to know what went wrong.

You do not need to know what is missing.

You do not need to know where to begin.

I do.

A scope that fits

Not every business needs the same package.

A solo consultant, an online business, and a growing company with employees do not need the same level of support. I will first understand how your business operates, what is currently working, what is not working, how far behind the books may be, which deadlines matter, how involved you want to be, and how you prefer to communicate. Then I will recommend a clear scope.

Clear scope. Clear expectations. No surprise work.

Pricing depends on the volume, condition, complexity, and frequency of the work. Before work begins, you will receive a clear explanation of what is included, what is not included, the expected timeline, and the proposed fee or pricing structure. If additional work becomes necessary, I will explain it and receive your approval before proceeding.

Tell Me What You Need Help With

Clear scope. Clear pricing. No surprise work.

Before I begin, you will know what is included.

If I discover something outside the agreed scope, I will tell you first.

You decide what happens next.

All prices are starting prices in Canadian dollars and may vary based on transaction volume, number of accounts, payroll size, filing frequency, number of entities, condition of the existing records, and complexity of the work.

Any applicable taxes are additional.

You will know your price before work begins.

Messy books are not a moral failure

You are allowed to ask for help before everything is organized.

Maybe the bank does not match QuickBooks. Maybe transactions are uncategorized. Maybe receipts are missing. Maybe you are several months — or several years — behind. Maybe a previous system or bookkeeper left more questions than answers. You do not need to clean everything up before contacting me.

Why people wait

Most business owners do not fall behind because they do not care.

They fall behind because the business became busier, bookkeeping was never their area of expertise, software created more questions than answers, they did not know where to begin, they believed they should organize everything before asking for help, they were afraid of being judged, or every attempt to catch up became another unfinished weekend project. The longer the books remain behind, the heavier the task feels. That cycle can stop without blame.

You may be closer to a solution than it feels.

What you may see

  • messy books
  • unreconciled accounts
  • missing statements
  • incorrect balances
  • inconsistent categories
  • duplicate transactions
  • years of incomplete records
  • questions from your accountant
  • a QuickBooks file you no longer trust

What I see

  • a starting point
  • a review process
  • priorities
  • records that can be gathered
  • questions that can be answered
  • balances that can be investigated
  • work that can be completed step by step
  • a path toward current, reliable books

What I look for when the books do not make sense

Cleanup is not simply correcting a few transactions. I trace activity through the records, compare balances to supporting information, reconcile accounts, investigate unusual differences, identify missing or duplicated entries, review categorization, and follow the trail until the numbers begin to make sense again.

Where necessary, I reconstruct parts of the bookkeeping from the information that is still available and create a reliable starting point going forward.

Messy books are often a puzzle. I genuinely enjoy finding the pieces that do not fit.

The process

What the cleanup process looks like

  1. 1You tell me what is happening in your own words.
  2. 2I review the available records and accounting system.
  3. 3I identify the periods, accounts, and issues that need attention.
  4. 4I explain the proposed scope, timeline, and price.
  5. 5You provide the available documents through a secure method.
  6. 6I complete the cleanup in a logical order.
  7. 7I ask focused questions when a transaction cannot be determined from the records.
  8. 8I explain what was corrected and what needs to happen next.
  9. 9We decide whether you need ongoing bookkeeping support.

What you do not have to do first

You do not have to sort every receipt.

You do not have to rename every file.

You do not have to identify every missing statement.

You do not have to fix QuickBooks yourself.

You do not have to know which account is wrong.

You do not have to understand accounting terminology.

You do not have to write a perfect history of what happened.

You do not have to apologize for the condition of the books.

Send what you have. We will identify the rest together.

You do not have to diagnose the problem before you come to me. That is part of my job.

The goal

The goal of cleanup

All caught up

Historical work is completed to the agreed point.

A clearer picture

You can see what the records are actually saying.

Confidence in the numbers

Accounts have been reviewed and reconciled within the agreed scope.

Tax-ready records

Your accountant receives cleaner, better-organized information.

A realistic system

The future process is designed around the way your business actually operates.

Peace of mind

The books are no longer waiting for you in the background every day.

Your books may be messy. Your first message does not have to be perfect.

A simple sentence is enough: "I'm behind, and I don't know where to start."

Send That Message
Straightforward from start to finish

You do not need bookkeeping knowledge to begin.

You only need to tell me what is happening. I will help identify the starting point, explain what is needed, and keep the process clear.

01

Tell me what feels difficult.

  • • "I am behind."
  • • "QuickBooks does not match the bank."
  • • "My accountant needs clean year-end records."
  • • "I do not know whether the books are correct."
  • • "I need bookkeeping taken off my plate."
02

Choose how you prefer to communicate.

  • • Email
  • • Phone
  • • Video meeting
  • • A combination
  • • Regular updates
  • • Updates only at key stages

Communication is part of the service, not a test you have to pass.

03

Receive a starting-point review.

  • • which records exist
  • • which accounts are involved
  • • how far behind the work may be
  • • what is missing
  • • which deadlines are approaching
  • • which questions must be answered
  • • the most sensible order of work
04

Receive a clear proposal.

  • • scope
  • • deliverables
  • • pricing
  • • estimated timeline
  • • what I need from you
  • • how additional work would be handled
05

Share documents securely.

Secure upload instructions will be provided after we agree on the scope. Please do not email sensitive financial documents.

06

I complete the agreed work.

I review, reconcile, organize, investigate, and ask focused questions when the records do not provide enough information. I do not send questions simply to return the work to you — I first use the information already available.

07

You receive clear communication.

You can receive regular progress updates, milestone updates, or communication only when I need something and when the work is complete.

08

We decide what comes next.

  • • the cleanup is complete
  • • ongoing monthly bookkeeping begins
  • • records are sent to the tax accountant
  • • a new bookkeeping rhythm is created
  • • occasional support continues when needed

It should not feel like

  • being passed from person to person
  • having to chase for a reply
  • paying someone and still managing all the work
  • being made to feel foolish
  • learning a complicated system without support
  • receiving unexplained surprise charges
  • wondering whether anyone remembers your business
  • correcting the same mistakes repeatedly

What it should feel like

  • straightforward
  • responsive
  • calm
  • clear
  • personal
  • accurate
  • proactive
  • respectful
  • flexible
  • trustworthy

The goal is for you to feel informed without being burdened, involved without being forced, and confident without having to become an accountant.

Begin with what you know — not with what you think you should already know.

Start Where You Are
The person behind the numbers

I built Accounting by Anna for the moment a client finally exhales.

The moment the shoulders drop.

The moment a confusing number is explained in plain English.

The moment a problem that has been avoided for months becomes a clear list of next steps.

The moment a business owner realizes, "I do not have to carry this alone anymore."

Anna, an experienced full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping professional.

I care about accuracy — and about the person trusting me with the work.

I have spent approximately twenty years working in accounting and full-cycle bookkeeping. I enjoy work that many people find overwhelming: cleaning up books, investigating balances, correcting entries, organizing information, and bringing the numbers back into a reliable structure.

My experience includes

  • • QuickBooks Online
  • • General ledger and journal entries
  • • Bank and credit-card reconciliations
  • • Accounts receivable
  • • Accounts payable
  • • Payroll support
  • • Month-end and year-end
  • • GST/HST
  • • Financial reporting
  • • Audit preparation
  • • Tax-ready bookkeeping
  • • Supporting businesses with large volumes of client and vendor activity

Professional Experience

For more than twenty years, I have worked across accounting and full-cycle bookkeeping, supporting businesses with both day-to-day financial operations and more complex accounting needs.

My experience includes QuickBooks Online, bank and credit-card reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and journal entries, GST/HST, payroll support, month-end and year-end work, financial reporting, audit preparation, cleanup, and tax-ready bookkeeping.

I also have experience working across multiple related companies at the same time, keeping the records of separate entities organized while maintaining a clear understanding of how the businesses operate together.

The goal is not only to enter transactions correctly. It is to understand what the numbers are saying, identify what does not make sense, and leave the books in a structure that can be trusted.

The philosophy

Why "I genuinely love messy books" matters to me

A business owner may hand over disorganized records and apologize before I have even reviewed them.

But messy books do not tell me that someone is careless or incapable. They often tell me that a person has been running a business, serving customers, making decisions, solving problems, and carrying too many responsibilities without the right bookkeeping support.

My role is not to judge the starting point. My role is to understand it, tell the truth about what I find, and help create a clear way forward.

What you can expect

What you can expect from me

Accuracy

The work must be careful, supportable, and checked.

Honesty

I will tell you what I know, what I need to verify, and what the records actually show.

Patience

You will not be rushed through a question or made to feel foolish for not knowing accounting terminology.

Plain English

I will explain what something means and why it matters.

Responsiveness

You should not have to wonder whether your message was received.

Respect for your choice

I will recommend what I believe is useful and respect the level of involvement and communication you prefer.

Steadiness

Difficult news should come with context, a clear explanation, and a next step — not panic or blame.

By design

A personal practice by design

Accounting by Anna is intentionally personal. You work with a real person who learns your business, remembers the history, and understands the context behind unusual transactions. The goal is not to become the largest bookkeeping company. The goal is to provide work that feels consistently careful, calm, and dependable.

Meet Willow Sage Hazel

Chief Happiness & Accuracy Officer

Willow is the gentle reminder behind the brand: small details matter, questions are welcome, messy beginnings are still beginnings, and bookkeeping can be handled with both precision and warmth.

Bring the books exactly as they are.

Start a Conversation

Questions are welcome. None of them are too small or too basic.

You are not supposed to already know bookkeeping. That is exactly why professional help exists.

Getting Started

My books are very messy. Should I clean them up before contacting you?

+

No. Contact me before you spend another weekend trying to organize everything alone. Tell me what you have and what feels wrong. I will help identify the correct starting point.

I do not know how far behind I am.

+

That is common. We can determine the periods and accounts involved during the starting-point review.

I do not know which service I need.

+

You do not have to choose a service name. Describe the situation in your own words, and I will recommend the most appropriate starting point.

What should I send first?

+

For the first conversation, send only a short description of the situation. Secure document instructions will be provided after the scope is discussed.

Can you work with books that are several years behind?

+

Potentially, yes. The available records, number of accounts, condition of the file, deadlines, and required outcome must first be reviewed.

Communication

Do I have to attend regular meetings?

+

No. Meetings are available when useful, but they are not required for every client. We can communicate by email, phone, video, or a combination.

Will I receive progress updates?

+

Yes, if you want them. You may choose regular updates, milestone updates, or communication only when I need something and when a stage is complete.

Will I always work with Anna?

+

The current practice is personal, and clients work directly with Anna. If the practice grows in the future, continuity and clear responsibility must remain part of the client experience.

How quickly will you respond?

+

Messages are acknowledged within [INSERT BUSINESS RESPONSE STANDARD]. Urgent deadlines should be clearly identified in the subject line.

Process & Documents

Will I have to learn new software?

+

Not automatically. I first assess what you already use and whether it can support the work. A new tool should be introduced only when it genuinely reduces friction or improves accuracy.

Can I send documents the way I already keep them?

+

Usually, the available records are the starting point. After review, I will give clear instructions for anything additional that is needed.

Do you offer secure document upload?

+

Yes, secure document sharing will be provided after the scope is agreed. You should never email sensitive financial documents when a secure method is available.

What happens if documents are missing?

+

I identify what appears to be missing and explain the practical options. Missing information does not automatically mean the entire process must stop, but it may affect the scope, timeline, or conclusions.

Will you speak with my previous bookkeeper or accountant?

+

With your permission and within the agreed scope, communication with a previous provider or tax accountant may be possible.

Pricing

How much will it cost?

+

Pricing depends on the condition of the books, number of accounts, transaction volume, time period, complexity, deadlines, and type of ongoing support required. You receive a proposed scope and pricing explanation before work begins.

Will there be surprise charges?

+

Work outside the agreed scope will not be performed without explaining why it is needed and receiving approval.

Do you offer packages?

+

Available service structures will be recommended after the starting-point review. The goal is to match the pricing method to the actual work rather than force every business into the same package.

Bookkeeping & Year-End

Do you prepare tax returns?

+

Accounting by Anna focuses on bookkeeping and preparing accurate, organized, tax-ready records. Tax-return preparation or tax advice is provided only if specifically confirmed within the professional scope. Your records can be prepared for your tax accountant.

Can you help with GST/HST or payroll?

+

Support may be available depending on the business, filing requirements, existing systems, and agreed scope.

Can you guarantee there are no errors in my previous books?

+

No professional should promise an outcome before reviewing the records. I can perform the agreed review, identify discrepancies found within that scope, and explain recommended corrections.

Will you tell me if you find a problem?

+

Yes. Problems are explained honestly, without blame, together with the available next steps.

Still not sure whether your question belongs here?

Send it anyway.
